Women astronaut/s to be a part of India’s manned space mission ‘Gaganyaan’

ISRO Chairman K. Sivan has confirmed that India will be sending humans to space for the first time from its own soil in December 2021. The ambitious project will see a three-person crew traveling to space in a capsule that will orbit Earth.

The Indian Space Research Organization will send two unmanned missions before the manned mission takes place- one in December 2020 and one in July 2021.

The astronauts will be trained in India as well as Russia and according to Sivan, women astronaut/s will also be a part of the team. ISRO will send its countrymen to space abroad GSLV Mk III.

The crew will stay in space for 7 days abroad the capsule orbiting Earth. Once the mission is complete, it would return for a parachute splashdown in the Bay of Bengal.
